Pool Lot Trail
The Pool Lot Trail at Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park Austin TX is the perfect place to cool off and take a dip after a hot day in the sun. The park is known for its cliffside trails, flowing springs of water, and wildlife.
The trail begins across from Zion Lodge and a small parking lot is behind it. It’s a nice, long, easy hike to the bridge and then back to the lodge.

The Pool Lot Trail is going to be closed temporarily in the coming months as crews finish construction on a new section of the Northern Walnut Creek Trail. This will connect Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park to the Walnut Bluffs trailhead in north Austin and will be a mile longer than it is now thanks to money from the 2016 Mobility Bond.

Dog Park
The Dog Park at Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park in Austin TX is a pawfect spot for leash-free playtime and socialization. Located within the 293-acre park, it’s a great place to spend an afternoon with your pup!
The area is well-shaded and has picnic tables for enjoying a meal or a snack with your furry companion. There are also wash stations and water fountains to keep your pup refreshed!
There are two fenced-in areas at the park for dogs to play in. The larger section is for large dogs and the smaller one is for small breeds. In addition, several trails wind through the park.

In addition to the outdoor recreation options, there are also a few museums you can visit at Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park. These include The Thinkery Children’s Museum, Tiny Tails to You animal experience, and Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum.
Another great place to check out is the Austin Aquarium, which features more than 4,000 aquatic animals including sting rays, cold-water fish, iguanas, and parrots. It also has daily animal talks and shows.
